Woodlake Pump Station

Jefferson Parish contracted with MSMM Engineering, LLC, to perform a study and investigate options for alleviating flooding in the northwest corner of Jefferson Parish/City of Kenner. This drainage pump station would remove stormwater directly from the Seton Park and Woodlake Estates subdivisions subsurface drainage systems to minimize flooding potential in those areas and indirectly benefit the surrounding areas by keeping that stormwater from entering the adjacent system of canals carrying water to the Duncan and Parish Line Pump Stations.
Key features of the project are as follows:
• 120 CFS pump station with 4 submersible pumps
• 8’ High Wooden Privacy Fencing around the pump station site with landscaping
• Stand-by generator with sound enclosure
• Two buried 36” discharge pipes from the pump station to the West Return Floodwall
• Above-ground support structures and two 36” pipes over the floodwall
• Discharge basin in the West Return canal
• Underground control structure to allow low flows from the area to enter the canal system but keep flows from the canal from reaching the new pump station during high canal levels
• New subsurface drainage on St. Elizabeth Drive and Plat Street to connect the two drainage areas and bring the stormwater into the pump station
• The project is to be funded by Jefferson Parish, and the estimated construction cost is $11.9 million
